Feeling the pressure of the Olympic year and being painted by the media as the “All American Girl destined for Gold,” Carly Patterson entered the second day of competition at the U.S. Nationals in second place behind Courtney Kupets. After Courtney scored a 9.8 on the balance beam, Carly battled back and scored a 9.8 of her own on the floor exercise with an incredibly clean routine, eventually becoming Co-National Champion with Courtney.
